Lentils with burgul and fried onions

Ingredients for 4 people:

  • 270 gr. brown lentil crops
  • 400 gr. coarse burgul
  • 1 1/2 L. water
  • 200 ml. Olive oil
  • Salt
  • 1 onion cut into fine strips


  1. Bring the lentils to a boil with 1 1/2 l. water with lid on it 40 min.
  2. Add the burgul to the lentils and allow to cook for about 15 min. On a soft fire and season with salt.
  3. Take another pot and heat the olive oil in it and fry the onions golden brown.
  4. Remove the baked onions from the oil and pour the warm oil over the lentils and burgul, put the lid on it and let rest for 5 min.
  5. Stir the lentils with burgul gently and serve in a plate, finish with the baked onions.

Tip: A fresh salad fits nicely.
